Introducing Former Lawyer
We’re so excited to be introducing Former Lawyer to you!
You Want To Leave Law, But How?
What do you do when you realize that you don’t want to be a lawyer anymore?
That’s a question that we here at Former Lawyer found ourselves asking a number of years ago.
Oh, sure, there are plenty of people who have run screaming from the law to do other things. So you know it’s possible to leave.
But where do you start? Is there anyone at your firm you can trust with how you really feel about your job? If you have one, will your significant other understand why you want to leave a career that you literally spent tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars to get into? Where do you even start in making a plan to tackle your massive student loan debt? And how do you figure out what you actually want to do?
Making A Plan To Leave Law
We found that answering these and the myriad other questions that arise when you decide that you no longer want to be a lawyer can be a challenging and often lonely process. It often takes a long time—literally years—to make and execute a plan to leave and to figure out what you want to do next.
Sometimes, you feel like you’re the only one who has these thoughts, and you wish you had others who could walk the path with you, brainstorm with you, encourage you on the days when you feel like you will never get out, and give you some advice on next steps.
